Urea

Urea is a non-protein nitrogen source which contains 46% nitrogen, or in real terms 281% protein. It is used in combination with Sulphur. Rumen microflora use and digest the urea and in turn increase the utilization of feeds by the animal. An effective use of Urea can increase dry feed intake by 30-50%. Grazing ruminants can utilize Urea on a daily basis provided care and attention to detail are followed. Urea is used in compound and feedlot diets as a valuable tool to increase nitrogen intake and thereby supplying a higher protein level. Always discuss the use of urea with a Nutritionist
